01
The starting point
Rosscot is one of Jersey's longest-established accountancy firms, founded in 1970, competing against much larger regional and international names. Despite decades of reputation, the website sat around position 45 for the searches that matter, effectively invisible to anyone looking for an accountant on the island. The site carried technical problems, thin content on the services clients actually search for, and a backlink profile polluted by hundreds of spam domains.
02
What was done
Two tracks at once
Technical work that needed no sign-off ran in parallel with client-approved content, so progress never stalled waiting on approvals.
Cleaned up the link profile
Identified and disavowed 462 spam and link-farm domains pointing at the site.
Built content around real Jersey questions
Guides on Jersey personal tax, GST, CER returns and company tax, every figure checked against gov.je, written so both Google and AI assistants can quote them accurately.
Software and service pages
Dedicated pages for Xero, QuickBooks, payroll, VFD and bookkeeping, matching how clients actually search.
Structured data and local signals
Business schema, FAQ markup and Google Business Profile improvements so the firm is understood as a local Jersey accountant.
Conversion tracking
Calls and enquiry forms tracked so the firm can see which pages bring in clients, with clearer calls to action across service pages.
03
The result
- By month two, the average local ranking had moved from 45 to 6.4.
- The firm now ranks first in Google's organic results for its main accountancy searches and third in the map pack, ahead of much larger competitors.
- The programme continues.
04
Why it matters to your firm
The firm already had a good reputation. What it lacked was visibility at the moment people were searching.
